The Los Angeles Angels have agreed to a new deal with All-Star pitcher Jered Weaver.
The deal which was reported by SI.com is a 5-year deal worth $85 million.
Weaver is 14-6 this season with a 2.10 era.
With this deal both sides avoid arbitration.
From the Sports Mind of RB:
This makes a lot of sense for the Angels because if they let him out on the free agent market it would be a feedng frenzy. In six seasons with the Angels Weaver is 78-45 with an era of 3.30 and only seems to be getting better. Many teams would love a young pitcher approaching his prime and this deal was pretty reasonable. I mean considering the fact that super agent Scott Boras is his agent the Angels are probably giddy with joy at the deal they struck.
