Padres And Maybin Come To An Agreement

AP
According to ESPN.com the San Diego Padres and Cameron Maybin have agreed to a 5-year extension that is worth $25 million. The contract also includes a team option for the 2017 season.

The 24-year-old Maybin was traded to the Padres in 2010 from the Miami Marlins for relief pitchers Ryan Webb and Edward Mujica. Maybin is considered a five-tool player but scouts wonder if he will ever put it all together.

The former first round pick by the Detroit Tigers batted .264 with 40 stolen bases, 24 doubles, 8 triples and 125 strikeouts in 137 games last season.

The two sides were able to avoid arbitration which would have went into effect at the end of the upcoming season.

From The Sports Mind Of RB:
I understand that Maybin has worlds of talent and no team wants to be the one that passed up on him. But this is his third team and he turns 25 in April, maybe they were onto something. It's wise to avoid arbitration because he could fetch way more then they would like to pay but he still has something to prove. But then again after writing this post he will become the greatest player of all-time.
