Effective Ways to Prevent Stomach Acid from Rising

Rising stomach acid is often torturous. In medical terms, this disease is known as GERD or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. Acid reflux disease can cause symptoms such as burning in the chest, nausea, heartburn, and a sour taste in the mouth.

However, there are several ways that can actually be done to prevent stomach acid from rising, namely:

1. Avoid Stomach Acid Trigger Foods

There are several types of foods that if consumed can trigger the rise of stomach acid. Some of these foods are chocolate, coffee, soda, alcohol, meat, dairy products, fatty foods, and acidic foods. These foods can increase the production of acid in the stomach.

2. Change Your Diet

A good diet can bring benefits to the body, and stomach acid is no exception. Eat on a schedule, with smaller portions. This can be effective in preventing stomach acid from rising, because a messy eating schedule and eating too many portions can increase pressure on the stomach, thereby triggering acid reflux. Also avoid eating too fast and snacking before going to bed at night.

3. Avoid smoking

The nicotine in cigarettes can relax the esophageal sphincter. As a result, the risk of acid reflux also increases. Therefore, avoid smoking from now on.

4.Take a deep breath

The risk of acid reflux can also be prevented by taking deep breaths. The reason is, when you breathe, the level of incoming air can strengthen the muscles under the throat. As a result, the possibility of stomach acid to rise can also be reduced.

5.Drink Water

To prevent stomach acid from rising, the digestive performance must be smooth. In order for the intestines to work faster in processing food, a balanced pH level can support it. Therefore, you need to consume adequate amounts of water every day. In addition to helping digestion, water can also hydrate the body properly.
