Yankees Continue Their Offseason Moves

AP
According to ESPN the New York Yankees have come to terms with free agent Raul Ibanez. The deal is worth $1.1 million including incentives for one year. With incentives he could rake in close to $4 million in the upcoming season.

The team was also looking at bringing back former Yankee Johnny Damon but preferred Ibanez.

Ibanez, who turns 40 in June, played the last three seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies and hit .245 with 20 home runs, 84 runs batted in in 144 games in 2011. The Yankees hope Ibanez could provide power from the left side of the plate as a designated hitter and possibly fill in the outfield every so often.

The All-Star has played with for the Seattle Mariners, Kansas City Royals and Phillies over his career.

From The Sports Mind Of RB:
Do the Yankees really need more offense? Not really but they were able shore up their pitching woes so this was a move to plug a hole they had.
