The Rams Have Got Their Coach

The St. Louis Rams and Jeff Fisher are working on a deal to make him the next head coach of the organization.

Fisher coached the Tennessee Titans and back when they were the Houston Oilers for 16 years with a record of 142-120. He also led the Titans to their lone Super Bowl appearance against the Rams back during the 1999-2000 season. He was let go last season after a pair of subpar seasons and a public spat with then quarterback Vince Young. At the time he was the longest tenured coach in the NFL.

The 53-year-old Fisher was also in the running for the Miami Dolpins vacancy but talks broke down during this past week.

The Rams have been abysmal since the 2005 season with a record of 27-80 with five different coaches in that span. The team let go Steve Spagnuolo who went 10-38 in three seasons as head coach. Hopes are with the hiring of Fisher, Sam Bradford at quarterback and the #2 overall pick in April's draft that this will be a step in the right direction.

Hearing about the Fisher hiring fullback Britt Miller told the Associated Press "I'm pumped..."

From The Sports Mind Of RB:
I like the Jeff Fisher signing even though his last years in Tennessee were not his best. This gives the team a stable coach and someone who has been to the playoffs and knows how to win.
