Colts Are Cleaning House

The Indianapolis Colts have fired head coach Jim Caldwell. This was a difficult season for the Colts as they finished with a record of 2-14 and were without star quarterback Peyton Manning who never took a snap after battling a neck issue all year.

The shake up of the organization started with the firings of Bill and Chris Polian, vice chairman and general manager respectively, by owner Jim Irsay. Coaches on the staff have either been let go or are looking for opportunites elsewhere. Longtime center Jeff Saturday has even said he is considering retirement.

Caldwell was part of the staff that won Super Bowl XLI against the Chicago Bears under then coach Tony Dungy. Since taking over at the beginning of the 2009 season the Colts have won two AFC South titles, an AFC Championship crown and made an appearance in Super Bowl XLIV against the New Orleans Saints. Caldwell was 26-22 in his three seasons.

Caldwell also coached at the college level for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

From The Sports Mind Of RB:
Peyton Manning can't be watching this and thinking this is a place he still wants to be. The team is clearing house and his future not only in the NFL but in this organization is still in doubt as they look to bring in quarterback Andrew Luck with the #1 overall pick. Even actor Rob Lowe has tweeted that his people have confirmation that Manning is going to retire. This has not been proven by any other media source but it would definitely add to the circus going on in Indy.
