The Texas Rangers and Yu Darvish have agreed to a deal that will pay him $60 million over six years.

The deal was on thin ice after the 30-day deadline imposed on Dec 19 last month was almost passed. The Rangers won the bid to negotaite with Darvish after posting a bid of $51 million, which is the highest ever for a player. The second goes to Daisuke Matsuzaka when he signed with the Boston Red Sox five years ago.

The 25-year-old Darvish will join Colby Lewis, Derek Holland, Alexi Ogando, Matt Harrison, Neftali Perez and Scott Feldman in a crowded Rangers pitching staff. The team hopes to defend their ALCS crown and make due with the departure of CJ Wilson who signed with the Los Angeles Angels.

From The Sports Mind Of RB:
This deal took so long because both sides knew that they were both going to get it done. Now we will see if Darvish will turn into the pitcher everyone hopes he will be.
