Epstein Looking To End Curse In Chicago

Theo Epstein was introduced as the new Chicago Cubs president on Tuesday. Epstein who held the same position with the Boston Red Sox left with a year still remaining on his contract.

The Cubs had named Epstein to the job on Friday but waited for the travel day of the World Series to make the announcement.

The 37-year-old will look to turn around the Cubs like he did the Red Sox and bring them back to World Series prominence. The Cubs have not won a title since 1908 and Epstein knows fans want a winner. "...we can preserve the things that make the Cubs so special and over time build a consistent winner, a team that will be playing baseball in October..." says the new president.

Epstein has had good pickups with the Sox ranging from Adrian Gonzales, Curt Schilling, and David Ortiz to name a few. But he has also had moves which were not up to par such as John Lacky and Carl Crawford. The team went 839-619 with him at the top.

This last season ended badly for the Red Sox which saw the team fall miserably out of the playoffs with a collapse in September which saw manager Terry Francona step down.

Owner Tom Ricketts of the Chicago Cubs said during the press conference ''I simply cannot imagine a better person for this job than Theo Epstein.''

From The Sports Mind Of RB:
I guess Theo likes breaking curses. If he wins in Chicago should we start calling him "The Curse Killer" or is that too soon? That is to all my wrestling fans who know Randy "The Legend Killer" Orton.
