Boston Red Sox pitcher John Lackey will miss the entire 2012 seaon due to Tommy John Surgery according to newly named GM Ben Cherington.
Lackey, went 12-12 with an era of 6.41 this past season. He has three years left on a five-year contract worth $82.5 million he signed two season ago.
This is on the heels of Red Sox pitcher John Lester admitting to a Boston paper that picthers drank beer in the clubhouse on days they did not pitch.
In two season with the Red Sox Lackey is 26-23 with an era of 5.26 and has started 61 games in that span since coming from the Los Angeles Angels.
From The Sports Mind Of RB:
Hey, Yankees fans who say AJ Burnett got overpaid and has not earned enough money do you want to make a trade? I think, forget that I know the Red Sox fans will take Burnett any day of the week if it got Lackey off their hands. Lackey has been a bust and getting anything out of him from here on out will be a work in progress.
