Manny Ramirez pleaded not guilty to domestic battery charges stemming from an incident on September 12 with his wife.

Ramirez, 39, was not present at the arraignment so his plea was placed by his lawyer. The judge has told the former all-star to stay away from his wife Juliana Ramirez after she claimed he hit her so hard that she hit the headboard of their bed.

The 2004 World Series MVP left the Tampa Bay Rays earlier this season and decided to retire. Later it was reported his early exit was prompted by a 100-game suspension he would have to serve because of a failed drug test. Ramirez was denied entry into the Dominican Winter Baseball League because of his refusal to serve out the suspension. He served a 50-game suspension for failing another drug test back in 2009 with the LA Dodgers.

From The Sports Mind Of RB:
So am I supposed to chalk this up to "Manny being Manny?" He is one of the greatest hitters to ever grace a baseball diamond but his better days of baseball are behind him.  As we all saw with the Rays earlier this season he does not care about playing a whole season because he quit on them.
