The New York Yankees and pitcher CC Sabathia have agreed on a new deal to keep him in the Bronx.

Sabathia ended the regular season with 19 wins and is 59-23 in three seasons with the Bronx Bombers with an era of 3.18.

The lefty signed a 7-year $152 million deal back before the 2009 season but had an opt out clause put in after three years. The new deal adds an extra year to the remaining four and another $30 million which turns into 5-year $122 million. An option for the 2017 was added as well with a $5 million buyout.

The Cy Young candidate is the centerpiece of a Yankees pitching staff that had its ups and downs last year and looks to rebound after their early first round exit to the Detroit Tigers.

In a conference call earlier today he said "I love pitching for the Yankees fans and everything, so it was the easy choice."

From The Sports Mind Of RB:
He knew he was coming back to the Yankees, Yankees fans knew he was coming back to the Yankees, and the Yankees knew he was coming back to them. Now everyone else knows he is back as well. They can give him all the security he wants so he was not going anywhere. Sorry Texas, San Francisco and the Los Angeles Angels.
