Winner
Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers- Verlander has dominated the American League all season and his numbers back that up. He is 23-5 with an era of 2.36, winner of 11 straight decisions and leads in the triple crown for all AL pitchers which includes wins, era, and strikeouts. Verlander has also thrown a no-hitter this season and has thrown at least six innings and 100 pitches in each start. Not to mention the guy has a shot a rather distant one but a shot at winning AL MVP.

C.C. Sabathia of the New York Yankees- Sabathia has been the pitcher the Yankees coveted ever since coming to the Bronx two season ago. This season has been no different with his starts usually ending in a Yankees win. However as a friend of mine put it "The big man dosen't bring his A game against the Red Sox." Sabathia is 1-4 against the Sox this season with an era around 7.00.

Jared Weaver of the Los Angeles Angels- For much of the season Weaver was the top contender for the Cy Young award but has had a some rocky starts since the All-Star break. His era at one point was hovering below 2.00 but he still has been the ace for the Angels.

Dark Horse
James Shields of the Tampa Bay Rays- Shields has quietly put together a very nice season. He has amassed over 200 innings pitched and has been the most consistent pitcher on the Rays staff all season. He is one of the reasons there team is still in contention for the AL wild card.
