According to SI.com the Chicago White Sox have traded manager Ozzie Gullien to the Florda Marlins for prospects.
Gullien who has been the manager for the White Sox since 2004, won both Manager of the Year and the World Series in 2005. Gullien has been a fiery character in Chicago as his temper and demeanor have been a calming effect and a distraction. A season ago he was reprimanded for calling a reporter a gay slur.
Current Marlins manager Jack Mckeon, 80, just announced he will step down after this season after coming out of retirement midway through to take over for a fired Edwin Rodriguez.
The White Sox who had an option on Guillen picked it up so this trade could be worked out.
Gullien was on the Marlins coaching in the 2003 when they won World Series.
From The Sports Mind of RB:
I did not see this trade coming at all. It makes sense for both teams because the White Sox probably would not bring him back and the Marlins needed a manger. It also helps the Marlins because he could reel in that young talent especially Hanley Ramirez who has been criticized for his lack of effort.
