The Minnesota Vikings and Adrian Peterson have agreed on a new seven-year extension. The deal is worth $113 million with $36 million guaranteed.

Since being drafted by the Vikings back in 2007 Peterson has not dissapointed as he holds or is tied for the club record in six rushing categories including single game rushing yards with 296. That is also the most in NFL history.

On twitter the All-Pro said "I love being a Viking and playing for the best fans in the NFL. Thank you for all the support!!!"

This deal follows on the heels of the Tennessee Titan's running back Chris Johnson  who also signed a mega deal after holding out all preseason just a week ago.

The deal makes Peterson the highest paid running back in league history.

From The Sports Mind of RB:
The Vikings are smart for locking up Peterson now beacuse he would be a free agent at the end of next season and I don't know if placing the franchise tag on him would have been a smart move. He clearly is the face of the franchise and an exciting player at that. Going forward the Vikings front office has to make sure they put the rigth pieces around him so they don't watse the prime of his career until this deal is over.
