Many publications and pundits dubbed this "The Game of the Century." This was the first time the #1 and #2 met in the regular season since undefeated Ohio St. beat #2 Michigan back in 2006. Both teams the entered the contest 8-0. But in the end the Tigers were able to roar there way by the Tide for the win 9-6.

This truly was a defensive battle from the onset as both offenses could not get anything going. Alabama's place kicker Cade Foster missed two field goals in the first quarter which came back to haunt the Crimson Tide.

To not be undone LSU's quarterback Jarett Lee who is part of the Tiger's two quarterback system with Jordan Jefferson threw a pick to end the first quarter.

After seeing enough from his kicker to last a lifetime Alabama head coach Nick Saban called on junior Jeremy Shelly to attempt a kick to break the scoreless tie. Different leg but still same result as the Tigers were able to block the try.

After going back and forth in the punting game Alabama was finally able to get a field goal to go through the uprights and take a 3-0 lead in the second quarter by Shelly. This play was preceded by quarterback AJ McCarron throwing an incomplete pass into the end zone for receiver Darius Hanks. That saw a visibly upset coach Nick Saban on the sidelines not to thrilled with the play.

LSU with an opportunity to score on a first and goal inside the Crimson Tide five-yard line after a pass inteference call were not able to punch it in and had to settle for a field goal by Drew Alleman. The score was tied 3-3 at halftime. Alabama's Trent Richardson who was the most potent offensive weapon on both sides lead both teams with 56 rushing yards and 61 receiving yards in the first half.

The second half began the same way it eneded for LSU's Lee as he threw another pick for his second of the game. He had thrown one interception in his last 160 pass attempts and threw two picks in his last two.

Alabama kicker Foster was finally able to overcome his early difficulties and nail a field goal in the third quarter to put Alabama ahead 6-3.

McCarron  throws his first interception in the third quarter. This led to the second field goal of the game for LSU's junior kicker Alleman that saw the game tied up at 6-6.

In the fourth quarter with Alabama threatening AJ McCarron throws his second interception of the game. The play was later reviewed and held up as an interception. The game went back and forth with punts until the final seconds of the fourth quarter ticked away and both teams entering overtime the same way they entered half, tied.

In overtime Alabama could not move the ball on their possession and had to settle for a field goal but it was the third miss of the game for Foster. This was not entirely his fault as the snap and hold were not executed properly.

On the flipside Drew Alleman of LSU made his third field goal of the game to ice the game and keep the top ranked Tigers atop the Football world and the SEC. This was some plays after running back Michael Ford seemed to have scored the game winner but stepped out of bounds inside the ten.

The loss for Alabama snapped their 20-game regular season winning streak. The Tigers have won their first nine games of the season for the first time since 1973. Les Miles is the first coach to defeat Alabama five times in a career. Trent Richardson ended the game with 23 carries for 89 yards.

From The Sports Mind Of RB:
This game was not for those who love offense at all. Les Miles has done an amazing job keeping his team focused even with all the controversy and suspensions surrounding LSU. Now he has to keep them from letting down the rest of the season. Nick Saban has to keep his team believing that they still have a BCS title shot even though this game will be tough to overcome. This game was so hyped that tickets were going for $10,000 online
