Down Goes Cassel, Down Goes Schaub

Kansas City Chiefs signal-caller Matt Cassel suffered an injury to his right (throwing) hand near the end of Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. He underwent surgery on Wednesday and according to coach Todd Haley it is "significant and could end his season," he told the Kansas City Star. The team has not placed him on injured reserve just yet hoping he could still return.

In his absence backup Tyler Palko will get the start next Monday night against the New England Patriots. Cassel played for the Patriots a couple of seasons ago after Tom Brady went down early in the season with an injury. This is the second major injury to hit the Chiefs this season as running back Jamal Charles went down with an ACL injury during the second game.

Cassel has had a subpar season to this point throwing 10 touchdown passes and nine interceptions for over 1700 yards.

The Houston Texans starting quarterback Matt Schaub was injured his right foot on a play Sunday. If he elects to have the surgery it would end his season.

The Texans are atop the AFC South at 7-3 and many considered this to be there season in the absence of Indianopolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning. Manning has not played a down this seasondue to complications from neck surgery.

This adds to a growing list of key players who have gone down because of injury from defensive end Mario Williams (torn pectoral muscle) wide receiver Andre Johnson (hamstring) and free safety Danieal Manning.

Schaub suffered the injury in the team's 37-9 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first half. After taping it up at halftime he played until the fourth quarter.

This will thrust backup Matt Leinart into the starting spot. The former #10 overall pick has not started a game since his days with the Arizona Cardinals. He declined an offer from the Seattle Seahawks in the offseason to return to the Texans. The team has a bye this week and are likely to get Johnson back which should make the transition for Leinart much more easier.

From The Sports Mind Of RB:
You have got to be kidding me. If someone out there does not want me to play fantasy football anymore just let me know. I have lost Jamal Charles, Kenny Britt, and now probably Matt Cassel and Matt Schaub for the season.
