I was having a conversation with my brother about the disrespect Lebron James faces on a daily basis. Does he bring some of the animosity upon himself? He probably does. Yet people seem to forgot that this is one talented basketball player and that should not be confused with his persona.
Many people don't like James because of the way he left the Cleveland Cavaliers and joined the Miami Heat last offseason. Many burned his jersey's, called him a sellout and said he is too full of himself. I learned long ago that not all athletes are choir boys or girls. Not everyone is going to want to be your best friend and we have to get over that. Do we wish athletes or celebrities would smile for pictures and sign autographs for little Johnny and Suzie? Heck yeah! But that is not the world we live in.
Since entering the NBA back in the 2003-2004 season the former overall #1 pick has done everything physically possible that he could do to win games. He has averaged about 28 points, 2 steals, a block, seven rebounds and assists per game. But if that is not enough to show how dominant of a force he has been just tell me how many guys walking around at 6'9'' and 240 pounds could dribble the basketball, pass, defend and jump out of the building like he can? Don't worry I'll wait. Let's not forget the way he carried the Cavaliers season after season and especially during the 2007 Eastern Conference Finals against the Detroit Pistons where he took over that series.
Let's not forget that he has made seven All-Star games, a couple of All-Star MVP's, add two more regular season MVP's to that, and a rookie of the year as well.
So next time someone wants to argue the merits of whether King James is one of the best basketball players if not the best in the world just run of the facts that I just hit you with. Don't worry if you don't like confrontation because that argument won't last long with you shutting them down. No reason to thank me.
