Former Penn St. coach Joe Paterno was diagnosed with a treatable form of lung cancer earlier this week.
His son Scott Paterno in a statement to the Associated Press said "doctors expect him to make a full recovery."
This comes days after the 84-year-old Paterno was let go as coach of the Nittany Lions after allegations against former defensive coach Jerry Sandusky were brought to light.
Former Penn St. athletic director Timothy Curley and the school's senior vice president for finance and business have been charged with perjury and failure to report suspected child abuse in relation to sex-abuse charges says the Pennsylvania attorney general's office. Former graduate assistant and current coach on the staff Mike McQueary was placed on administrative leave. McQueary says he witnessed Sandusky molesting a boy in the school's showers back in 2002.
The Second Mile Charity which Sandusky founded and where many of his accusers come from might be closing after reports of a cover-up surfaced.
From The Sports Mind Of RB:
Joe Paterno was literally king of the world and could do no wrong. Now because the school did not do enough to stop one person his legacy will be ruined and will never be repaired.
