Adios Carlos!

The Mets have just traded outfielder Carlos Beltran to the San Fransico Giants for the Giants first round pick from last season prized pitcher Zachary Wheeler.

When Carlos Beltran signed with the New York Mets back in 2005 fans thought they were getting the man who ran roughshod over pitchers during the 2004 playoffs after his trade from Kansas City Royals to the Houston Astros.

Beltran had issues staying on the field after a horrific collision with Mike Cameron in a game against the San Diego Padres back in 2005 and other injuries such as knee problems and quad issues.

But the one reason Beltran probably will never truly live up to the contract he got with most Mets fans eyes is Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS against the St. Louis Cardinals. A series in which the Mets came in heavily favored and got a incredible catch from Endy Chavez in that game and a well-pitched effort from Oliver Perz.

From the Sports Mind of RB:

I will be honest with you at times Beltran frustrated me as well. It seemed as if he was stealing money everytime he went to the bank and cashed the checks into his bank account. But then I realized that Beltran a career .285 hitter before arriving to the Mets, was just the player they had paid for. He was a gold glove centerfielder, a very good base stealer, a switch hitter with decent power but not the 41 homeruns he displayed his first year with the team.

Here is a little magic from that 2006 NLCS Game 7:
