For the first time in his career Tiger Woods missed the cut at the PGA Championships. Woods, who finished 10 over par has followed this up after a poor outing at the Bridgestone Invitational in his last tournament.
The 35-year-old Woods acknowledged in a press conference after missing the cut that he was not shocked he missed the cut after playing into bunkers and missing fairways.
His second round of 3 over 73 fared better than his first round of 7 over 77 but that could not save his major championship hopes.
This is the seventh time in Woods' career that he has missed the cut and the third time at a major.
From the Sports Mind of RB:
It is tough to see Tiger Woods like this. I grew up as many in my generation did rooting for him, watching more golf and jumping for joy when he would raise that trophy at the end of a golf tournament. Ever since his 2009 sex scandal and injuries to his knees he has not been the same player. I was watching MSNBC the other day and they had something flash on the bottom line that was alarming, Tiger Woods who at one point was the richest athlete ever, barely makes more than when he first entered as a rookie back in 1996. How the mighty have fallen.
