Yao Ming Announces his Retirement

The hype surrounding Yao Ming when he arrived to the NBA was out of this world! It might have even been crazier than when Lebron James arrived as a rookie only because Yao had to carry the whole country of China on his back.

He was going to be the next great big man to battle Shaquille O'Neil but that soon was passed onto Dwight Howard.

With a multitude of foot injuries that have robbed him of playing time forcing him to play an average of 48 games in the past five seasons.

From the Sports Mind of RB:

Even if people think all those all-star appearances Yao Ming received were unfair because mostly everybody from China voted for him does not matter. The problem was that his playing in the NBA and having the strenous demands placed upon him by the Chinese government were unbearble even for a man of his staure. He was a good player and even a better ambassador for the game.
