Monday Night Football New York Jets at Houston Texans 8pm

The New York Jets tackle the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football for the first game of the preseason for both teams. The Jets coming off a second year in a row losing in the AFC Championship game to the Pittsbugrh Steelers look to get there for a third time and it starts now. With returning starters Antonio Cromartie and Santonio Holmes the Jets also added big play receiver Plaxico Burres. The Jets also lost wideouts Jericho Cotchery, Braylon Edwards and will have to find a way to replace jack of all trades Brad Smith who signed with the Buffalo Bills.

The Texans look to turn around a disatrous season last year with QB Matt Schaub, All-Pro receiver Andre Johnson and running back Arian Foster who has come into his own. The Texans who have not made the playoffs under head coach Gary Kubiak have to make a push this year. The team which finished 6-10 last season has a very good offense but defensively they were at the bottom to the middle of the pack. With the addition of Wade Phillips they look to turn around the under performing defense.

From the Sports Mind of RB:

The Jets with head coach Rex Ryan always have a bullseye on their backs and they seem to love it. They still have to contend with the likes of the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts. QB Mark Sanchez showed he could play well during the two-minute drive ;ast season but has some more learning to do and an addition like Plaxico Burress can help with that. This year the Jets have to make the Super Bowl or all their talk will just be that, talk.

The Texans have to show some improvement becuase they have been analysts sexy pick to battle the Colts for the AFC South and it never has materialized. With all that talent on offesne it seems to go to waste and if Wade Phillips can't turn that defense around it might be the last chance for this team.
