Yankees Bench Posada, Probabaly for Rest of the Season

New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi has confrimed that he is benching catcher/dh Jorge Posada for the forseeable future.

Posada who got off o a slow start this season had seen his average rise from .160 to .230 but is currently going through a 1-13 slump.

Earlier in the season Posada was not too happy after he pulled himself out of the starting lineup aganist the Boston Red Sox and Yankees GM Brian Cashman held a impromptu meeting with reporters to tell reporters why Posada had taken himself out of the game.

There probably won't be any problems this time around as Girardi expalined to him this is best for the team at the moment.

With injuries to Alex Rodriguez and trying to get rest for older players such as Derek Jeter and Mark Texeira, players such as Eric Chavez and Eduardo Nunez could expect more playing time and could provide more versatility.

It will be interesting to see how this plays itself out as Posada is a main fixture in the Yankees lockerroom.
