The preseason game slated for 2pm this afternoon between the New York Giants and the New York Jets has been postponed until Monday night as Hurricane Irene makes it's way towards the tri-state area. The game was originally scheduled for tonight at 7pm then moved up to try and get the game underway, but as NJ Transit and the MTA decided to shutdown by 12pm playing the game would have made it difficult for fans to arrive and depart from the Meadowlands.
From the Sports Mind of RB:
I'm shocked it took so long for this game to be postponed. The minute Hurricane Irene forced state officials to declare a state of emergency and the MTA and NJ Transit were going to be shutdown the game should have been an after thought. At least the right decision was made because the last thing we need are people outside during this storm.
