A Yahoo! Sports extensive 11-month investigation has uncovered that a booster during the past decade was responsible for many discretion's deemed unlawful by NCAA by laws.
Nevin Shaprio, who became a booster with the university from 2001 up until his incarceration in 2010 confessed he provided players with money, parties with strippers and prostitutes, rides on his yacht, jewelry and even a claim of an abortion.
Shapiro is serving a 20-year prison sentence for his part in a $930 million ponzi scheme.
Shapiro named former players such as Vince Wilfork, Devin Hester, Jonathan Vilma and former Miami head basketball coach Frank Haith. No football coaches names were brought up in this report.
When asked why he decided to come forth with this Shapiro says he felt like they were all family. So when he got into trouble and financial issues they turned their backs on him. "When you get into trouble who do you go to? Family and they did not help."
From the Sports Mind of RB:
If you think this does not happen on more college campuses then I have a bridge, matter of fact a couple of bridges I can sell to you. Blogger Jaden Daly of www.jadendaly.blogspot.com says "...makes Ohio State look like the Vatican." College sports are big business and when money is involved many unscrupulous people want to get involved and unfortunately youngathletes are those who usually get hurt. The NCAA always says they are fixing the corruption involved in college athletics but they never seem to find the right solution. Even with this whole debacle surrounding Miami, there are probably some other school(s) out there following the same blue print, just wait you will see.
